The USDA has proposed a reduction in the number of servings of certain vegetables, including potatoes, in schools. The proposed rule on Nutrition Standards in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program would reduce offerings of potatoes and other starchy vegetables in school lunch to a single cup per week and would eliminate potatoes from school breakfasts. Potatoes offer key nutrients to children.
