Congressman John Salazar is leading the effort along with many members of Congress to reverse this unfair trade policy. During Mexican President Calderon's recent visit to Washington, D.C., Congressman Salazar hand-delivered a letter from 10 members of Congress asking that Mexico work out a solution to this trade impasse that will benefit Mexican consumers and increase economic activity in Colorado and other potato growing regions.

"There is no single thing that would mean more to the economic well being of potato growers in the San Luis Valley and throughout potato country than access to Mexico's 130 million consumers," said Colorado grower and National Potato Council President Roger Mix. "We believe that access to Mexico will result in $150 million in additional sales within five years. That means more economic activity and more jobs. We appreciate the work being done by John Salazar and others in Congress to assist us in this effort."
