RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.-To meet the growing demand for Headline fungicide, BASF recently announced a $225 million investment in additional production facilities in Germany, France, Brazil and the United States.

Headline has had over 5,000 on-farm trials in corn and soybeans in the past several years. In 2007, thousands of on-farm trials with Headline produced average yield boosts of 12 to 16 bu/A in corn and 4 to 8 bu/A in soybeans.

By aiding in preventing disease, Headline helps plants to commit more energy and resources to growth efficiency and improved stress tolerance.

This improves harvest ability in two ways-without rot and other diseases, the plant stalk maintains its integrity, and since the plant is not battling disease, the stalks themselves are sturdier.

The outcome is hardy, disease-free stalks that are less likely to lodge or to drop ears.
