MCCAIN PLANT TO GO UP IN NORTHWESTERN U.S.

McCain Foods Ltd. has announced plans to build a C$150-million factory in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

The plant will be for the production of french fries and potato specialties.

The New Brunswick-based company says in a statement that the plant, to be built in an as-yet-unspecified location, will make products primarily for food service and quick-service restaurant customers in the U.S. and international markets.

Construction is to begin next the spring and production is expected begin in the late summer of 2009.
