United Phosphorus Inc., (UPI) announced today it has purchased Ag Value Inc., a supplier and registrant of crop-protection products located in Visalia, CA.

The sale includes all stock and related entities, including the company's assets, products, registrations and property and rights associated with the business of Ag Value and its subsidiaries and affiliates. Terms were not disclosed.

"We are extremely excited about the opportunity this acquisiton affords UPI, not only with Ag Value's existing product line, but also those products they've targeted for future entry into the North American and other markets," said Jai Shroff, CEO of UPI.

"We are pleased with the growth and stature our organization achieved over the past three years since inception," said Brian Heinze, president and CEO of Ag Value Inc.

"However, we saw an opportunity to advance our vision for the agricultural and speciality marketplace by transferring our resources into UPI, a global supplier of crop-protection and pest-management technologies with a broad product and customer base."

"The purchase of Ag Value brings us a well-rounded product portfolio that will allow UPI to expand its market presence in key agricultural and speciality market segments," said Jeff Pritchard, vice president and general manager for UPI.

UPI said it anticipates a final merging and absorption of the Ag Value product line into the UPI business model no later than December. UPI is one of North America's leading suppliers of post-patent crop-protection technologies. UPI is a subsidiary of United Phosphorus Limited, India, one of the world's 10 largest producers and marketers of crop-protection and pest-management products, including herbicides, insecticides, grain fumigants, fungicides and rodenticides. Headquarters are in Trenton, NJ.
