Syngenta Develops New Grains Herbicide

Syngenta announced today it has filed for registration of a new selective herbicide for three major markets.

The company has already filed for registration in the United States, Canada and the European Union.

The new herbicide will control weeds in barley and wheat. First sales are targeted for 2006, subject to registration. The cereal market is estimated at more than $1.7 billion across Europe and North America.

Syngenta, based in Basel, Switzerland, and other locations throughout the world, is a leading crop-protection developer and marketer of crop-protection products.
