New Zealand vegetable growers will face losses of NZ$30 million after floods swept the country's North Island. Potato Growers lost up to 50 percent of their crops.

Industry group Vegfed President Brian Gargiulo said many growers will not be able to replant until the next southern spring.

Because the industry was at peak harvest, many growers have paid out the costs of producing a crop but will see no return at all. Gargiulo said in the meanwhile there is also the yet unknown clean up and repair costs to face.
