PEI Producers In Trouble

Prince Edward Island, Canada, producers say there is a crisis in agriculture in the province for pork, beef and potato producers.

Potato growers say they are exporting about half what they normally do.

They blame the downturn on the change in eating habits from fewer fries to new diets and the fact Ontario and other areas in Canada had good crops, offering stiff price competition.

PEI growers say they are getting half the cost of produciton.
