Idaho's Acreage Down 4 Percent

Acreage estimates made by the Idaho Agricultural Statistics Service show that Idaho's crop will be down 4 percent to 360,000 acres in 2003.

This is down 15,000 acres from last year. Harvested acreage is expected to total 358,000 acres.

For the entire fall potato production estimate in the United States, acres will be down an estimated 30,000 acres in '03.

By state, the only significant decreases in planted acres outside Idaho's is Colorado's 5,000, Oregon's 7,000, Washington's 5,000 and Wisconsin's 1,000.

States that have increased production include: Maine by 2,000, Nebraska by 1,500, and Nevada by 1,400.
