Eastern Canada’s potato growers want the same availability to crop-protection products as their producer counterparts in the United States.

Growers are trying to acquire less expensive and safer pesticides from the United States—perhaps on a special-use permit or on one-year pilot projects.

Growers have long been upset that United States pesticides are sanctioned years ahead of Canada. Or, they ask why projects can’t have joint registration in Canada and the United States when a new one is available.
