Michael Mack, formerly president of Imerys S.A., a French worldwide paper company, has been named president of Syngenta Crop Protection.

Mack takes over from Bob Woods who led Syngenta Crop Protection’s North American operations since November 2001. He will work closely with Mack in the transition and remain as chairman of the Syngenta Corporation U.S., based in Wilmington, DE.

Mack, a native of Michigan, has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in economics from Kalamazoo College in Michigan. He also studied at the University of Strasbourg in France.

John Atkin, chief operating officer of Syngenta Crop Protection, said Mack would bring a strong leadership track record. He thanked Woods for stepping into the post late last year and for steering the North American crop protection business through a crucial transition time.
