As fast as potato disease conditions change, it's critical for growers to attain the most current information available. Now, they can have frequent updates faxed right to the farm.

The Late Blight Forecast Flash service delivers late blight disease severity values straight from the Plant Pathology Department at North Dakota State University. Each fax flash includes the most up-to-date cumulative severity maps, showing two-day accumulations and seasonal totals where available.

In cooperation with NDSU, Dow AgroSciences will provide this free fax service through harvest.

"We hope this service will provide potato growers with a fast, convenient way to monitor forecast disease progression in the region," says Gary Secor, NDSU plant pathologist. This information is also available at http://ndawn.ndsu.nodak.edu/application/potatoes.html.
