Todd Michael, a potato grower from Urbana, OH, was chosen to lead the National Potato Council for the next year during annual meetings held in San Antonio, TX, last week.
Michael, who has a multi-row-crop farm with his family, has served as chairman of the Council’s Legislative/Government Affairs Committee for the past year.
He is a long-time delegate and supporter of the Council from the eastern United States, following in the footsteps of his father, Doug, who served as president in 1985.
Because the NPC office is being moved from Denver, CO, to Washington, DC, Michael will be closer to the new location than about 90 percent of the grower/members from throughout the United States.
Michael says he was surprised to be asked by his fellow growers to serve, but pledged to represent all growers in all aspects of potato industry business.
Chosen to serve on the Executive Committee with Michael were Ron Buatte, VP, Environmental Affairs, Glenns Ferry, ID; Jim Wysocki, Bancroft, WI, VP of Finance; Keith Masser, Sacramento, PA, VP of Grower/Public Relations; David Warsh, Center, CO, VP Legislative/Government Affairs; Ed Macy, Culver, OR, VP Trade Affairs, and Allen Olberding, Pasco, WA, Immediate Past President in charge of Long-range Planning.
